This online presentation marks the publication of Jon’s first book—Full Catastrophe Living: Using the Wisdom of Your Body and Mind to Face Stess, Pain, and Illness in Turkish.  He is very grateful that this work and the mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR) program it describes will now be broadly available to Turkish readers.  In this online presentation, Jon will discuss the nature of mindfulness as both a formal meditation practice and as a way of being in wise relationship with oneself and the world.  He will discuss the key elements of MBSR and how the program spread to hospitals and clinics and medical centers around the world and stimulated a new field of scientific and medical research that is now producing studies at an exponential rate. In 2020, over 1150 scientific papers were published on mindfulness meditation and its applications in medicine, health care, and beyond. The program will also include a guided meditation plus an opporunity for participants to dialogue with Jon and ask him questions. There will be both English and simultaneous Turkish translation channels available.
