Bu seminer Beyoğlu'na tarihsel ve estetik kimliğini kazandıran mimarların hikayelerine ve çalışma tarzlarına odaklanacak. Çeşitli dönem ve üsluplardan seçilecek önemli yapılar ve mimarlar, Beyoğlu'nun tarihini mimari ve sosyolojik bir gözle incelememizi sağlayacak.

İçerik

Tanzimat'tan sonra elçilik yapılarıyla başlayan yapı faaliyetinin Fossati'ler ve Laurecisque gibi birçok ilginç aktörü var. Başlangıçta daha çok Stampa, Barborini ve Semprini gibi Levanten İtalyanlar olan mimarlar, Paris ya da Roma'da eğitim gören Aznavour, Kambanakis gibi Ermeni veya Rum cemaatlerinden mimarların katılması ve Sanayi-i Nefise Mektebi'nin açılmasıyla giderek çeşitlendi. Tepebaşı - İstiklal Caddesi kafe ve tiyatrolarıyla Osmanlı başkentinin Avrupai eğlence merkezine dönüşürken, dönemin mimarlık tarz ve akımlarının da bir sergi alanı oldu. Neo-klasik'ten Neo-barok'a, Seçmecilik'ten Art Nouveau'ya bu stilleri ortaya koyan Karakaş kardeşler, Kyriakides ve Novokosmos gibi mimarların hepsi değilse de birçoğu hakkında temel bilgilerimiz var. Araştırmalar geliştikçe mimar öyküleri de büyük Beyoğlu resmine katılıyor.

Bu seminer Beyoğlu'nun hikayesini Beyoğlu'nun inşa eden mimarların hikayeleri aracılığıyla anlatmayı amaçlıyor.

Program

This seminar will focus on the stories and working styles of architects who were effective in the construction of the historical and aesthetical identity of Beyoğlu. Important structures and architects to be selected from various periods and styles will enable us to analyze the history of Beyoğlu with an architectural and sociological perspective.

Content

The building activities, which started with embassy buildings after Tanzimat, has many interesting actors such as Fossati and Laurecisque. The architects, who were originally Levantine Italians such as Stampa, Barborini and Semprini, gradually diversified with the participation of architects from Armenian or Greek communities such as Aznavour and Kambanakis, who were educated in Paris or Rome.

While Tepebaşı - İstiklal Caddesi transformed into the European entertainment center of the Ottoman capital with its cafes and theaters, it also turned into a  showcase of ​​the architectural styles and movements of the period. We have basic information about many, if not all, architects such as Karakaş brothers, Kyriakides and Novokosmos who used many styles from Neo-classical and Neo-baroque to Art Nouveau. As the researches evolve, the stories of architetcs are included into the Picture and stıry of Beyoğlu .

This seminar aims to tell the story of Beyoğlu through the stories of the architects who built it.
